Piggybacking off of my last video, how to use Gua Sha and jade rollers, I filmed this how-to facial massage video as requested on Instagram. These massage techniques will make your skin glow and release muscle tension, which happens to be my favorite!
In the past, if you were to visit me in the treatment room with relaxation goals, my main focus would be to slow down your fight or flight mode. Honing in on relaxing tight muscles or releasing sinus pressure was my favorite thing to do. Putting people in nap mode instantly with these moves was so fun! haha
Even though my techniques will increase blood flow and reduce TMJ, they’ll also sculpt cheekbones and promote lymphatic drainage. Basically, your face will appear thinner, your skin will be radiant, and your muscles will feel relaxed.
The trick is to not overthink your facial massage techniques… do what FEELS GOOD!
If your skin becomes pink it isn’t a bad sign, it means you’re stimulating your skin–which is what we want. However, if you begin to experience warmth or heat that’s a sign of over-stimulation, and your skin has had as much as it can tolerate during your session. This will sometimes happen with my skin, typically if I’ve steamed prior during a DIY facial.
Watch what I do and use it as a guideline, not your rulebook. There is no right or wrong way, as long as you use upward movements and you’re not pulling on your skin, you’re golden.
