A hop away from Palm Springs you’ll find Palm Desert, a town filled with stunning golf courses and resorts. Among them is Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort, and of course they have a spa!
On the Westin property are working honey bees, bringing a unique aspect to the spa’s offerings. In addition to the spa menu is a list of Signature Honey Treatments ranging from massage, body treatments, and hand and foot indulgences using their local honey. Cool, right?! Anticipating my spray tan to survive longer than it did I skipped booking a body treatment. They seem super lush and regret not experiencing one! Instead, I created my own honey body polish!
The DIY scrub bar is super cute and fun. If you’re visiting make sure you play in the herbs, oils, and honey and customize a scrub for your skin! Each scrub starts with either salt or sugar, whichever you prefer, with a base of grapeseed oil. From there you can customize with a variety of fresh herbs and essential oils.
Plan to arrive 30 minutes early so you can fill out your facial intake form and enjoy the grounds. Just outside the relaxation area is an outdoor lounge complete with a chilled therapy pool. But when it’s 115 degrees outside, I’ll opt for A/C. Within the locker room you’ll find individual eucalyptus steam rooms.
The Spa at Mission Hills offers Hydropeptide and Image facials. After discussing my options I decided to go with an Image Oxygen Facial since I’ve never experienced the line before. As much as I love Hydropeptide (um, hello?!) I equally love new skincare experiences!
Native American burden baskets are in each treatment room, handmade by Palm Desert’s local Apache Tribe. Before leaving our room my esthetician Barbara handed me one. I was instructed to take a moment to release my worries and burdens, placing them in the basket. She then placed my burden basket on the outside of our room, allowing me to fully enjoy my spa experience.
After just having a facial the day prior I was nervous my skin wouldn’t agree with another pamper sesh. Usually, oxygen facials are ideal for sensitive skin, and I rolled with it. What’s different about the Image Oxygen Facial is there’s no equipment used, which you’d likely expect. Instead, a thin layer of mask is applied and begins to foam as it activates. In a mirror Barbara pointed out areas where my skin needed more love, like my neck where foam dissipated quickly. Not once did I experience any sensitivity!
Image’s Oxygen Facial is one of Mission Hills most popular services, and after my facial I get it. My skin GLOWED! Image Skincare is all about simple, value driven products offering solid results. And that’s what you get. I left super impressed and perused the retail shelves, settling on a few eye creams. I receive questions about good eye creams under $50 frequently and will test these out in the coming months, keep an eye out!
FYI: Spa at Mission Hills is a full-service day spa with lush amenities. If you would like to experience the grounds without booking a service you can do so for a small fee. Parking didn’t seem to be an issue, even if you aren’t staying at the resort. The spa offers membership options for locals with reasonable pricing, be sure to check it out if you live in the area!
