One of my sensitive skin hassles is contact dermatitis, usually brought about after over-exfoliating or adding too many new products at once. As an esthetician I push my skin further than I should, seeing how it tolerates ingredients and gauge how others might experience them. It’s part of learning…being your own model. It’s a risky job! Ha!
The kind ladies over at Peach & Lily sent a jar of Kicho Sheep Oil Cream ASAP when my skin flared up a while ago. Founder Alicia struggles with eczema, so she’s versed in sensitive skin battles and swears by this face cream. It’s lush and soothes compromised barriers, and like many kbeauty products it brightens as well.
Sheep oil aka lanolin oil is high in cholesterol, a key component in the skin’s lipid structure making it a great ingredient for balancing the skin’s barrier. Shea butter provides fatty acids to lock in hydration, and sodium hyaluronate brings water in. They’re even ceramides, although it’s halfway into the ingredient list. When it comes to keeping your lipid structure balanced this isn’t a terrible option.
While my skin was dry and compromised this Sheep Oil Cream was wonderful! My skin healed and felt well nourished. Once my skin was back to its combo-oily self the ingredients became comedogenic for me. Such a shame, I loved using it in my nightly regimen! If you’re prone to clogged pores you’ll want to avoid this cream. If you’re dry and your skin is needing nourishment, go for it.
I advise against using Kicho’s cream during the day as it contains citrus oils, they can cause photosensitivity. Sheep Oil Cream is ideal for evening routines.
